Recent research suggests that fasting might be an ideal method for weight loss.
Dr. Jason Fung, author of “The Complete Guide to Fasting”, stated that when you eat for a shorter period during the day, you tend to eat less overall.
He explained that fasting creates a cycle in the body that is simple, flexible, and easy to follow.
In a recent brief study, participants who limited their eating to six hours a day were able to expend the same amount of energy as usual, while experiencing reduced cravings and lower levels of the hunger hormone ghrelin.
There is also evidence that fasting helps the body burn fat. Gut health expert Dr. Daryl Goffrey noted that when you eat continuously, insulin is constantly released into the blood, signaling the body to store fat.
Conversely, fasting helps the body produce ketones, a chemical produced by the liver when it breaks down fat. This fat can then be used by the body for energy.
