India defeats Sri Lanka by 43 Runs in the First T20 to Lead Series 1-0

Kandy:In Kandy, Sri Lanka’s team was all out for 170 runs in the 20th over while chasing a target of 214 runs in the first match of the series.

For Sri Lanka, Pathum Nissanka was the top scorer with 79 runs. Kusal Mendis scored 45, Kusal Perera 20, Chamika Karunaratne 12, Matheesha Pathirana 6, Wanindu Hasaranga 2, Maheesh Theekshana 2, Dasun Shanaka 0, captain Charith Asalanka 0, and Dilshan Madushanka 0 runs.

Asitha Fernando remained not out with 0 runs.

For India, Riyan Parag took 3 wickets, Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel took 2 each, while Mohammad Siraj and Ravi Bishnoi took 1 wicket each.

Earlier, batting first upon Sri Lanka’s invitation, India scored 213 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav was the top scorer with 58 runs. Rishabh Pant scored 49, Yashasvi Jaiswal 40, Shubman Gill 34, Hardik Pandya 9, Riyan Parag 7, and Rinku Singh 1 run.

Axar Patel remained unbeaten with 10 runs, and Arshdeep Singh with 1 run.

For Sri Lanka, Matheesha athirana took 4 wickets, while Wanindu Hasaranga, Asitha Fernando, and Dilshan Madushanka took 1 wicket each.
