Islamabad: Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb of the Islamabad High Court has ordered the presentation of PTI leader Shehbaz Gill’s brother in court by August 6, stating that the full responsibility for enforced disappearances rests with the Prime Minister and the Cabinet.
In a written order regarding the petition for the recovery of Shehbaz Gill’s brother, Ghulam Shabbir, Justice Aurangzeb noted that the parties involved had not taken any steps to recover the missing person.
The Interior Secretary was instructed to use all available resources to ensure Ghulam Shabbir’s recovery and appearance in court.
The order mentioned that during the hearing, representatives from the Assistant Attorney General, Ministry of Defense, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and other agencies appeared, all of whom claimed ignorance about the whereabouts of the missing person.
Justice Aurangzeb remarked that the government’s denial of knowledge about the whereabouts of the missing person indicates an enforced disappearance issue.
The Islamabad High Court directed the recovery and presentation of Shehbaz Gill’s brother, Ghulam Shabbir, by August 6 and stated that the full responsibility for the enforced disappearance lies with the Prime Minister and his Cabinet.
The judge emphasized that it is essential for the Prime Minister to take emergency measures to address this abhorrent practice of enforced disappearances.
