Heavy rains are ongoing across various regions of the country, leading to the collapse of dilapidated roofs and resulting in 12 deaths and multiple injuries.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, three people, including two women and a child, were killed when the roof of a three-room house in Kot Murtaza, Gomal, Tank District, collapsed due to intense monsoon rains. Three injured individuals have been transported to a hospital.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur expressed his condolences to the victims’ families and announced financial aid for the affected family.
In the Lower Dir area of Thana Bagh Sora Ghundo, a young girl was killed when a house veranda collapsed.
Her body was recovered from the debris with the help of family members and locals.
In Charsadda’s Umarzai Chandro Dag area, two people were injured when a house collapsed.
The injured were taken to the District Hospital Charsadda, where 60-year-old Jannat Bibi succumbed to her injuries.
In Karak’s Takht Nasrati Tehsil, flooding in streams and rivers after the rains led to four people being swept away in separate incidents.
Rescue 1122 recovered all bodies during operations at different times.
The deceased have been identified as 60-year-old Aurangzeb, 12-year-old Aryan son of Alam Zeb, 11-year-old Asad Umar, and 26-year-old Shahzad son of Muhammad Ayaz.
In Sindh’s Jamshoro district, two people, including a woman, died due to the rains. Areas in Kohistan, including Thana Ahmad Khan, Noriabad, Karchat, Bal, Seri, Pokan, and others, are experiencing varying intensities of rainfall.
Flooding has occurred in streams due to runoff from the Kerthar Mountains. In Karchat’s Sultan Barft village, a mosque was destroyed, and in Ali Nawaz Barft village, a dilapidated house collapse resulted in the deaths of 65-year-old Ali Muhammad Barft and his daughter-in-law.
Some areas have also experienced disruptions in communication networks due to the rains.
In Punjab’s Jhelum district, a woman who was injured when a roof collapsed four days ago has passed away.
The roof collapse occurred in Khurd village, injuring a mother and her two-day-old baby, while a ten-year-old daughter died at the scene.
The number of deaths in this incident has now risen to two, though the newborn injured child is reported to be in stable condition.
