Atlanta: In a shooting at a high school in the state of Georgia, a 14-year-old student has killed two fellow students and two teachers, and injured nine others.
In a press conference, investigators reported that the shooting occurred at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia.
Four people were killed, including two students and two teachers, while nine others were hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
Chris Hosey, Director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, identified the suspect as 14-year-old Colt Gray, a student at the school. Gray will be charged and tried as an adult.
Director Hosey declined to disclose the motives behind the shooting and did not specify what type of gun was used.
According to police, a school deputy confronted the attacker, who then dropped to the ground and surrendered.
The incident took place at a school approximately 50 miles (80 kilometers) northeast of Atlanta.
It is noteworthy that there have been 28 shooting incidents in the U.S. this year, resulting in 127 deaths. In comparison, there were 42 incidents last year with 217 fatalities.
