Expert tips on storing onions: keep fresh for up to six months

Onions are an essential vegetable for cooking, but they are one of those vegetables that can spoil easily. However, if you follow the right storage methods, you can keep onions fresh for up to six months.

YouTuber Jerry James Stone shared his key tips for storing onions without them rotting or getting soft and advised people to stop storing them at cool temperatures.

He said, “I’m going to tell you how to store onions properly. If you follow this, you can store onions for up to six months.”

He explained that you should never put onions in the fridge; that’s the first thing. Never keep them in the fridge. If you do, they will rot or become soft.

Secondly, keep onions at normal room temperature. If you store them in a cool environment, all their moisture will be lost, causing them to dry out quickly. Keep them in a dry place with good air circulation.

Furthermore, store them with garlic because both vegetables thrive in the same environment. And if they are in a plastic bag, take them out of the bag.
