Islamabad: The Election Commission has confirmed its commitment to implementing the Supreme Court’s ruling concerning reserved seats.
In a recent meeting chaired by the Chief Election Commissioner, the Commission reviewed the court’s directives on reserved seats and resolved to comply with them.
During the meeting, the Chief Election Commissioner and other members strongly criticized recent unwarranted attacks from a political party and dismissed calls for their resignation as baseless.
The Commission’s spokesperson emphasized that the body would adhere strictly to constitutional and legal guidelines, undeterred by external pressures.
They clarified that the Election Commission had not misinterpreted any legal decisions and that PTI’s intra-party elections were not validated, leading to the withdrawal of the bat symbol.
Allegations against the Commission were deemed inappropriate.
The Supreme Court’s decision mandates the return of reserved seats to PTI, despite a petition filed by PML-N challenging this ruling.
