The funeral prayer for Ismail Haniyeh, a Hamas leader martyred in an Israeli attack in Tehran, was held in Doha, Qatar.
The prayer took place at the Central Mosque of Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab in Doha, with a large crowd in attendance.
Arab media reports that the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, attended the funeral along with his father, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa.
The Emir also offered prayers for Ismail Haniyeh and his companion Wasim Abu Shaaban.
The Turkish Foreign Minister also arrived in Doha for the funeral and extended condolences to Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal. Ismail Haniyeh will be buried in Doha.
It is noted that Ismail Haniyeh was martyred on July 31 in a missile attack in Tehran.
Earlier, Ismail Haniyeh’s funeral prayer was held in Tehran, led by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.
The ceremony was attended by high-ranking Iranian officials including President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Ayatollah Khamenei declared that avenging Ismail Haniyeh’s killing is a duty for Iran, while President Pezeshkian stated that Iran would respond vigorously to any enemies attacking its internal sovereignty.
