Court issues written order on obstacles to Imran Khan’s meetings with lawyers in Adiala Jail

Islamabad: Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan has issued a written order from the previous hearing regarding the obstacles to Imran Khan’s meetings with his lawyers in Adiala Jail.

According to News, warnings have been issued to the Advocate General and the Superintendent of Adiala Jail for creating barriers to the PTI founder’s meetings.

The court’s order specifies that any further obstruction to Imran Khan’s right to consult with his lawyers will not be tolerated, and if such incidents recur, the court will initiate contempt of court proceedings immediately.

The order also states that in the event of a similar occurrence, today’s order will be considered as a formal notice of contempt of court.

The Superintendent of Jail submitted a list of Imran Khan’s jail meetings and reported that obstacles have been placed in the way of meetings with his lawyers, including having to walk miles to reach the jail.

The written order expressed surprise at the barriers to meetings, including the use of glass partitions and police officers standing by to listen to conversations.

The court agreed with the jail authorities’ stance on SOPs and stated that meetings with lawyers and other visitors should not be altered.

Additionally, the court noted that Imran Khan’s lawyer requested time to review the list of meetings. The hearing of the case has been adjourned until September 13.
