CM orders 24/7 work on Karachi’s BRT red line

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed that work on the BRT Red Line project in Karachi be carried out around the clock.

An important meeting on the BRT Red Line project was chaired by the Chief Minister, who expressed concern about the inconvenience caused to local residents due to the construction work.

He urged that work on the project be accelerated to avoid traffic congestion.

During the meeting, Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon reported that the progress of the section from Loot One to Meteorological Department is at 9.46%, while the section from Loot Two to Exhibition has progressed by 15.3%.

He informed the Chief Minister that utility relocations have slowed down the work. The project is expected to be completed by March 2026 for Loot One and by June 2026 for Loot Two.

The Chief Minister instructed that Jinnah Avenue be completed within two months and opened to traffic.

The briefing also revealed that mixed traffic lines on Loot One are causing public inconvenience, and the K4 line is running along the BRT route.

Murad Ali Shah directed the Water Board to work day and night to complete their lines and to expedite work on the BRT.

He insisted that any utility shifting by the Water Board be completed within two weeks, emphasizing that he wants the BRT Red Line completed ahead of schedule.

The meeting also discussed the need to relocate some K-Electric utilities.

It was noted that 80% of the payment for relocating K-Electric utilities has been made.

The K-Electric representative requested right-of-way access to shift cables, and the Chief Minister instructed the Karachi Commissioner to grant this access and ensure cable relocation within one month.

Additionally, the Chief Minister directed Solid Waste Management to remove garbage from UK Apartments Road, Askari Park, and Jail Chowrangi.
