Beijing: Authorities in China are reportedly installing powerful lasers on highways to prevent drivers from falling asleep while driving.
Since last year, colorful laser beam clips from highways in China have been going viral on social media, prompting people to learn more about their purpose.
The laser system, which resembles an open-air light show, is actually a method to prevent drivers, especially truck drivers, from sleeping during their journey.
The most famous clip of this unusual installation was recorded on the 1,600-kilometer-long Qingdao Yinchuan Expressway, which is reportedly used by heavy trucks traveling from the capital city of Ningxia to the port city of Qingdao.
