Rawalpindi: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered a case against YouTuber Imran Riaz for running a campaign against the judiciary on social media.
According to media, a case was registered at the FIA Cyber Crime Circle Islamabad against journalist and YouTuber Imran Riaz and seven others for running an anti-judiciary campaign on social media.
The case names Imran Riaz, Mujahid Ali Shah, Allah Nawaz Khan, Sohail Ahmed, Umar Sadiq, Sadiq Anjum, Musaddiq Abbasi, and Tariq Saleem as the accused.
The case was filed by Ahmad Sadiq Khan of G-14 Islamabad under Section 20 of the PECA Act for ‘Violation of Privacy,’ along with charges of issuing threats and abetment of crime.
Sources indicate that the case also names Musaddiq Abbasi, an advisor to the Anti-Corruption Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and was registered on the complaint of a close relative and nephew of Judge Ahmed Sadiq.
The complainant stated that the accused launched a campaign against his uncle, who is a sitting judge, and the judiciary, which is the second pillar of the state, thereby damaging the reputation of state institutions and the judge.
The accused also made false and baseless allegations against the complainant and his family to harass and blackmail them through social media.
According to FIA officials, the case was filed after the inquiry confirmed the allegations.
Following the registration of the case in the FIA Cyber Crime Circle, the arrests of the named individuals are expected, and sources suggest that similar cases will be filed against other vloggers and YouTubers.
