Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi High Court bench has postponed the hearing of twelve appeals in the Benazir Bhutto murder case, scheduled for the first time in 7 years and 10 days, indefinitely after a brief session.
The bench, consisting of Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf and Justice Abdul Aziz, heard the case for the second time. President Asif Zardari replaced his lawyer, Sardar Latif Khan Khosa, with Farooq H. Naek for his four appeals.
Meanwhile, convicted police officers, former CPO Saud Aziz and former SP City Khurram Shehzad, replaced their lawyer, Azam Nazir Tarar, with Osama Ameen Qazi.
One acquitted defendant, Rafaqat, disappeared from Adiala Jail upon his release. Justice Mirza Waqas inquired about his disappearance.
The female police SP responded that the police had been searching for him for seven years.
The court expressed displeasure and directed that the CPO Rawalpindi personally find the defendant and present him at the next hearing.
The government also requested the removal of the name of accused Pervez Musharraf from the list due to his death and the dismissal of President Asif Zardari’s appeal against him.
The court ordered that all appearances be completed by the next date. The case hearing has been postponed indefinitely.
