In Bannu, the sit-in by the business community, civil society, scholars, and political parties at Police Line Chowk has continued for the third day.
Despite the sit-in, business activities in Bannu city are back to normal, traffic is moving as usual, and mobile phone services are operational in the city and surrounding areas.
The sit-in committee has demanded that the police be given more authority, that patrols be conducted in the area at night, and that the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) be included in operations against terrorists. They have also called for the missing persons to be brought to light.
It should be noted that a peace march was held in Bannu a few days ago, during which a shooting led to a stampede, resulting in the deaths of four people and injuries to several others.
The provincial Home Department stated that a gathering of political parties and the business community took place peacefully on July 19.
However, during the demonstration, some troublemakers used the opportunity to throw stones and set fire to tents placed at security force supply depots.
The troublemakers also demolished the walls of the depot. Despite the police’s efforts to remove them, one person died, and 25 others were injured.
