Bangladesh: Protesters loot Chief Justice’s home, steal cars and valuables

Dhaka: In Bangladesh, protesters raided the Chief Justice’s residence, causing widespread damage and stealing valuables.

According to international news agencies, protesters broke into the official residence of Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan in Dhaka, vandalizing the property and stealing cars, furniture, and other valuable items.

The Chief Justice was not at home at the time of the incident, and security forces did not intervene.

The protesters also consumed the food stored in the house.

It is noted that in the ongoing nationwide student protests over the past month, which have resulted in the deaths of over 300 protesters and injuries to thousands, the Army Chief advised Sheikh Hasina Wajed to resign and leave the country.

Before resigning, Sheikh Hasina Wajed attempted to record a speech for the public, which was not permitted, leading her to resign and leave for India with her sister.

Later, Army Chief General Waqar ul Zaman announced in a speech to the nation that a transitional government would be formed soon and that he would meet President Shahabuddin tonight to discuss this.
