Attack on Mogadishu Beach leaves 32 dead

An attack on a beach in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, has resulted in the deaths of 32 people.

According to foreign media, Somali authorities have confirmed that the militant group Al-Shabaab carried out the attack on Mogadishu’s beach, leading to the death of 32 civilians and injuring numerous others.

Reports indicate that Al-Shabaab, in connection with Al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the attack on the popular Lido Beach through their radio station.

Somali officials stated that security personnel reached the scene immediately after receiving information about the attack.

In the ensuing operation, five attackers were killed, while six attackers detonated explosives, resulting in the deaths of several beachgoers.

According to a police spokesperson, 32 civilian deaths have been confirmed so far, with over 60 injured, some of whom are in critical condition, raising concerns about a potential increase in the death toll.
