Israel’s brutality, savagery, cruelty, and war frenzy have extended from the Gaza Strip in Palestine to Iran, where it targeted Palestinian leader and Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in his residence in Tehran with a guided missile, killing him.
Ismail Haniyeh had gone to Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s newly elected president, Masoud Pezeshkian.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei reacted to Haniyeh’s assassination by stating that since Ismail Haniyeh was martyred on Iranian soil, it is our duty to avenge his blood.
Iran’s newly elected president, Masoud Pezeshkian, stated that the Zionist power will soon see the consequences of its cowardly and terrorist actions. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned Haniyeh’s assassination, calling it a cowardly act by Israel.
Various countries, including Pakistan, Russia, China, and Turkey, not only condemned Ismail Haniyeh’s assassination in strong terms but also expressed concerns that Israel’s cowardly act would severely impact peace negotiations and reduce the chances of a ceasefire in Gaza.
Ismail Haniyeh was a key negotiator for Hamas in the talks to stop the Gaza war in Qatar. Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani rightly raised the question, “How can mediation succeed when one party kills the negotiator of the other side?”
Ismail Haniyeh had previously survived assassination attempts, but this time he was not so fortunate.
The recent Israeli brutality, ongoing since October 7, 2023, has resulted in the deaths of over 40,000 Palestinian children, elderly, youth, men, and women, including more than 60 members of Haniyeh’s family, among them his three sons and four grandchildren.
Now, Ismail Haniyeh himself has achieved martyrdom, injecting new life into the Palestinian resistance movement.
Israel has kept a blaze of fire and blood burning in Gaza for the past ten months, reducing everything to ruins.
Gaza has been transformed into rubble, with homes, shops, schools, and hospitals all depicting scenes of devastation. Instead of being serious about a ceasefire, the Israeli prime minister wants to expand the scope of the war.
He aspires to turn this region into a battleground with American backing. Following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, Israeli aircraft attacked Beirut, Lebanon’s capital, killing Hezbollah commander Mohsen Fawad Shakur, revealing Netanyahu’s malicious intentions.
He aims to plunge the entire region into war. Senior Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya, who is likely to succeed Ismail Haniyeh, rightly said that Israel attacked Iran and Lebanon to ignite a fire in the region.
He stated that Hamas and its allies do not want a “regional war,” but Haniyeh’s assassination has sent a clear message that our only option with this enemy is blood and resistance.
Worldwide protests are taking place against Israeli brutality, expressing solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians. Despite the recent ruling by the International Court of Justice, UN resolutions, and global protests, Netanyahu remains unaffected.
There is no point in questioning the criminal silence and muteness of the Muslim Ummah’s rulers, who are enslaved by their desires and personal political interests, slavishly following America, while their tongues are tied regarding the atrocities being inflicted on Palestinians.
The United States, the sole center of global power, stands fully behind Netanyahu, emboldening him to unleash mountains of oppression on the weak and unarmed Palestinians, without any intervention from the UN or others. Mere verbal sympathy and condemnation cannot fulfill the dream of a Gaza ceasefire.
The Muslim Ummah, along with the UN and the international community, must take practical steps to rein in Netanyahu.
The oppressed Palestinians, writing history with their blood, will soon reap its rewards. After Ismail Haniyeh, the Muslim Ummah and the global community must wake from their slumber, or the trail of Palestinian blood will only lengthen.
