Actor arrested in murder case granted ‘TV’ facility in jail

Bengaluru: Darshan Thoogudeepa, the Kannada film actor who killed 33-year-old Renuka Swamy, has been provided with a television in jail.

According to Indian media, actor Darshan requested jail authorities last week to install a television in his cell, stating that he wanted to stay updated on news related to his case and was “curious” about what was happening outside the jail.

In response to Darshan’s request, the jail authorities allowed the installation of a 32-inch television in his cell on the morning of September 7.

Previously, Darshan had also requested permission to use a surgical chair and make phone calls, which the authorities had granted.

Police sources revealed that Darshan has been under severe mental stress since the charge sheet was filed against him and is anxious about the upcoming court decision.

It is noted that Darshan Thoogudeepa brutally murdered 33-year-old Renuka Swamy a few months ago.

Following this, the Karnataka police arrested him in June and recently issued a charge sheet against him in the murder case.

The charge sheet issued by the Karnataka police details the brutal and inhumane violence inflicted on Renuka Swamy before her murder.
