Beirut: In light of escalating tensions between Hezbollah and Israel, flights have been canceled at Beirut Airport.
Passengers at Lebanon’s only international airport were anxiously waiting for their flights yesterday, but most flights were canceled.
According to foreign media reports, Beirut International Airport had been operating despite increased cross-border clashes between Israel and Hezbollah.
However, following announcements by major airlines suspending flights, many passengers have been stranded.
Passenger Ilham Shakir, traveling to the U.S. via Jordan, said that they arrived for their flight at 4:30 AM local time, only to be informed that their flight had been canceled.
Yesterday, Israel conducted airstrikes in Lebanon, claiming that it had thwarted a large-scale Hezbollah attack.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese group had announced cross-border attacks to avenge the death of a senior commander, Fouad Shukr, who was killed in an Israeli attack last month.
