Thirteen migrants have died and 14 are missing after a boat capsized in the waters off Yemen.
The boat, carrying 25 Ethiopians and two Yemeni nationals, was passing near the coast of Taiz province in Yemen.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported that on Tuesday, a boat capsized off Yemen’s coast, resulting in 13 deaths and 14 people going missing.
The deceased included 11 men and two women, whose bodies were recovered from the Bab al-Mandeb strait, one of the world’s key maritime routes for global cargo delivery.
The report noted that a search operation is ongoing for the missing individuals, including the Yemeni captain and his assistant. The cause of the boat’s capsizing remains unclear.
In July, a boat carrying at least 45 refugees capsized off the coast of Taiz, Yemen, with only four survivors.
