Lahore: In response to a petition against the nationwide internet shutdown, the Lahore High Court has directed the federal government’s lawyer to appear with instructions from the relevant authorities by 12 PM.
Justice Shakeel Ahmed of the High Court heard the petition filed by citizen Nadeem Sarwar.
The petitioner argues that the internet and social media apps have been shut down across the country without any notice or explanation, severely affecting businesses and various sectors of life.
The petitioner contends that this shutdown violates fundamental rights.The petition highlights the damages caused by the alleged internet shutdown, pointing out that Pakistani companies and youth earn billions of rupees in foreign exchange through IT.
The petition requests that the federal government’s decision to shut down the internet be declared null and void, and that orders be issued to restore internet services completely and immediately.
