Imran Khan files miscellaneous application to halt proceedings in £190 million reference

PTI founder Imran Khan has filed a miscellaneous application to halt the proceedings in the £190 million reference and has challenged the trial court’s order of August 12 in the Islamabad High Court.

Imran Khan has also requested the provision of records regarding the NAB’s decision to close the £190 million reference.

The application states that the investigating officer had testified that the NAB’s 343rd Executive Board meeting approved the closure of the case.

However, the trial court had rejected the request for the record of the Executive Board meeting.

The decision to close the case was made in the NAB Executive Board meeting of April 2020.

Imran Khan has requested that the accountability court’s order of August 12, rejecting the application, be annulled.

He argues that failure to present the NAB Board meeting record in the trial court would cause significant harm to him in his defense.

According to the petitioner, during cross-examination, the investigating officer admitted some details about NAB’s 343rd Board meeting.

It is essential for the record of the NAB’s 343rd Board meeting to be presented before the trial court.

The application names the Chairman of NAB, DG NAB, and the Prosecutor General as respondents.

Meanwhile, regarding the Chief Justice’s remarks on the £190 million case, Imran Khan’s sisters, Azma Khan and Aleema Khan, have submitted a request to the Registrar’s Office.

In their request, Aleema Khan and Azma Khan have urged the Chief Justice to recuse himself from cases involving Imran Khan.

They have requested the withdrawal of observations related to the £190 million case from the wildlife case.

The request states that Imran Khan has pending cases before the Supreme Court and has asked the Chief Justice to recuse himself from his cases.

The wildlife case has no connection to the £190 million case, and the Chief Justice’s remarks could impact the trial of the case.
