Action against LPG adulteration: Pano Aqil saved from major disaster

Islamabad: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), in collaboration with the Sindh government and law enforcement agencies, has successfully averted a disaster in Pano Aqil.

According to a spokesperson, OGRA, along with the Sindh government, district administration, and law enforcement agencies, has successfully sealed all locations involved in the illegal mixing of CO2 gas with LPG in Pano Aqil, Sukkur, and surrounding areas.

The timely action has saved Pano Aqil and its vicinity from any potential large-scale disaster, as the mixing of CO2 with LPG could have led to massive explosions, resulting in significant loss of life and property.

Consequently, strict action has been taken against the violators, FIRs have been lodged, and judicial proceedings have been initiated.

The statement further mentioned that OGRA has recently taken serious notice of the issue of CO2 mixing with LPG.

OGRA Chairman Masroor Khan and authority members have instructed OGRA’s enforcement, legal, and LPG teams to work with law enforcement agencies, the Sindh government, district senior officers, the Attorney General, and Provincial Advocates General to take appropriate action against illegal decanters.

OGRA is committed to using all legal options under its regulations to eliminate such illegal activities, aiming to protect precious lives and public property.

Notably, reports of CO2 mixing with LPG have been received from various locations in Sindh, particularly near Pano Aqil in Sukkur.
