“My mother will never return to politics,” says Sheikh Hasina’s Son

Dhaka: Sajib Wazed, the son and advisor of Sheikh Hasina Wazed, has stated that his mother has worked tirelessly for the development and progress of Bangladesh, and her departure from office is a shock for them.

In an interview with the BBC, Sajib Wazed, who was also an IT and communications advisor during his mother’s government, mentioned that she was ready to resign the previous day.

Wazed added that his mother left Bangladesh solely due to family pressure as they perceived her life to be in danger. Under their pressure, she decided to leave the country.

He stated that the government’s departure is a setback for them because his mother worked day and night for the country and strengthened the economy, which has been recognized globally.

Regarding his mother’s political future, Sajib Wazed said that she will never return to politics.

Earlier, in a Facebook post, Sajib Wazed had addressed the military, urging them to prevent any unelected government from coming to power even for a minute, emphasizing that it is their duty and responsibility.

It is worth noting that 76-year-old Sheikh Hasina served as Prime Minister for 15 years and was compelled to resign due to ongoing anti-government protests and demonstrations across the country over the past month. She has since left for India.
