Suicide among actors becoming a growing concern, experts say

Washington: Since the suicide of Hollywood actor Robin Williams in 2014, there has been a noticeable increase in suicides among actors.

In the U.S., over 1,800 additional deaths have been estimated in a span of four months.

Such suicides are becoming a prominent trend in Hollywood, especially following the death of a high-profile individual.

Although this trend could potentially be mitigated through planned interventions, many factors remain hidden, such as changes in thoughts and behaviors preceding suicide.

Research published in “Science Advances” presents a model that examines the suicide process similarly to how one might study the spread of an infectious disease.

Clinical psychologist Nick Allen stated that, while suicide is not contagious like a virus, the model developed by the team is highly convincing.
