After unsuccessful attempts to contact key institutions and the diminishing prospects for negotiations, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to once again seek dialogue with political leaders.
PTI has appointed Mahmood Khan Achakzai, head of the Constitutional Protection Movement, for this purpose. Achakzai has been unable to make meaningful contacts for over four and a half months, leading to the decision to form a new, broader alliance.
Sources indicate that Imran Khan has initiated intense efforts for a “breakthrough” before the completion of the £190 million hearing, as he is trying to avoid military courts.
PTI’s founder has been advised to make open apologies and assurances rather than seeking concealed support.
Additionally, it has been reported that the Pashtun faction of PTI, which is from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is resisting Mahmood Achakzai taking a central role.
This group had opposed his candidacy for the presidency, arguing that giving a Pashtun from Balochistan a higher status would undermine their own position, especially since Achakzai is associated with a political party that has historically opposed PTI.
It is known that Mahmood Khan Achakzai is not interested in a new role and is not willing to follow the directions of PTI’s leading figures.
He has stated that the protection of the constitution can only be ensured if all political parties are united and create a framework that guarantees constitutional protection and makes the national system workable.
