Turkey has blocked the social media platform Instagram across the country.
According to reports from foreign news agencies, the reason for the block has not been specified, but both the Instagram mobile application and website are inaccessible throughout Turkey.
The directive to block Instagram was issued on the website of Turkey’s Information Technologies and Communications Authority.
This move follows comments by Turkish Communication official Fahrettin Altun on Wednesday, who criticized Instagram for blocking posts related to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh.
Altun stated on social media platform X that “this is pure censorship; Instagram did not cite any policy violation for its actions.”
However, Meta has not commented on Turkey’s ban on Instagram or Altun’s remarks.
