Kuala Lumpur: Australian ultramarathoner Natalie Dau has set a record for the fastest time to run across Malaysia (in the women’s category).
Natalie Dau covered a distance of over 700 kilometers from Kelantan (a northeastern state of Malaysia) to Johor Bahru (a city in southern Malaysia) in just eight days and 46 minutes.
Natalie first competed in an ultramarathon in 2019. Since then, she has become a 10-time champion in this sport.
Ultramarathons typically start at 50 kilometers, and the longest ultramarathon she has participated in was 200 kilometers.
Driven by a desire to accomplish something unprecedented, Natalie decided to traverse the Malaysian terrain, which was part of her larger endeavor ‘Project 1000’ (a mission to run 1000 kilometers from Thailand to Singapore).
During this journey, Natalie covered between 85 to 95 kilometers daily. She mentioned that the last 20 kilometers of each day were the most challenging.
