Karachi: Former Test captain Younis Khan expressed his hope that someone like former President General (R) Pervez Musharraf would come forward to restore cricket between Pakistan and India.
He emphasized the importance of cricket between the two countries and expressed a desire to see Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli play in Pakistan.
He also welcomed Waqar Younis’s role as PCB advisor on cricket matters, viewing it as a positive sign.
Younis Khan shared these thoughts during a media interaction at the Green Lyari event held at the cricket ground.
He stated that he supports cricket matches between Pakistan and India and wishes to see Indian cricketers play in Pakistan.
He noted that Pakistan is well-respected in India, and if India were to lose to Pakistan in New York during the World Cup, their cricket would be in a different place.
In response to a question about Waqar Younis being appointed as the PCB’s advisor on cricket, Younis Khan said that individuals who can deliver results should be brought into the PCB.
He has played under Waqar Younis’s leadership and views his appointment to the board as encouraging.
Waqar Younis now has the opportunity to address cricket’s issues, and there is potential for improvement in national cricket.
The former cricketer mentioned that during his career, there have been seven or eight PCB chairmen.
He remarked that when a person walks with confidence, they tend to forget everything else.
He noted that Pakistan’s performance used to be at the top in the past and emphasized the need to work on infrastructure.
He believes that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi understands what needs to be done and that the media should responsibly report news in a better manner.
He humorously added that even if he were given four ministries at once, he might struggle to handle them.
