Pak Army sentences retired Lt. Colonel Akbar Hussain for inciting mutiny

Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Army has sentenced retired Lt. Colonel Akbar Hussain for inciting mutiny among military personnel.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt. Colonel Akbar Hussain was tried by a Field General Court Martial and found guilty of inciting military personnel to mutiny.

He was sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment on May 10, 2024, by a competent court.

ISPR stated that, according to the sentence, Hussain’s rank was forfeited on July 26, 2024.

Additionally, former Major Adil Farooq Raja and former Captain Haider Raza Mehdi were also court-martialed for inciting mutiny under the Army Act.

Adil Raja received a 14-year sentence, and Haider Raza Mehdi was sentenced to 12 years of rigorous imprisonment.

ISPR further noted that both Adil Raja and Haider Raza Mehdi had their ranks forfeited as well, with their sentences taking effect from November 21, 2023.

They were punished for actions against the state’s security and interests.
