Dambulla: Sri Lanka clinched the Women’s Asia Cup title by defeating India by 8 wickets in the final.
In the final match played in Dambulla, the Indian team scored 165 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, setting a target of 166 runs for Sri Lanka to win.
Sri Lanka chased the target of 166 runs given by India in 18.4 overs with the loss of 2 wickets. .
Sri Lankan batter Harshitha Samarawickrama remained unbeaten with 69 runs and Kavisha Dilhari with 30 runs.
Captain Chamari Athapaththu played a brilliant innings of 63 runs, while Deepti Sharma from India took one wicket.
Earlier, India won the toss and opted to bat first, scoring 165 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.
For India, Smriti Mandhana m the top scorer with 60 runs, followed by Richa Ghosh with 30 and Jemimah Rodrigues with 29 runs.
For Sri Lanka, Kavisha Dilhari took 2 wickets, while Chamari Athapaththu, Sachini Nisansala, and Udeshika Prabodhani each took one wicket.
