Moscow: A Russian citizen, who had been experiencing pain and discomfort under his ribs for the past nine years, had a 9-centimeter piece of glass removed from his liver.
The 53-year-old unidentified man told doctors at the Kirov Regional Clinical Hospital in Russia that he had been suffering from severe pain and discomfort under his right ribs for a long time but had never bothered to get it checked.
Eventually, due to the intensity of the pain, he underwent a CT scan, which revealed a sharp object lodged in the right side of his liver.
When doctors asked what the object could be, the patient said he had no idea and could not recall any incident where a sharp object might have entered his body.
After performing surgery, surgeons successfully removed a 9-centimeter-long piece of glass from his liver.
Doctors said they were astonished when they saw the glass piece on the endoscopic monitor.
One surgeon mentioned that during the operation, it was discovered that the piece had been covered by connective tissues to prevent it from damaging healthy tissues. This caused severe inflammation.
