England supports hosting Champions Trophy in Pakistan

Karachi: England is in favor of holding the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, and the board has also expressed a desire to host a Pakistan-India Test match in their country.

ECB Chief Executive Richard Gould stated, “We want to see the Champions Trophy held in Pakistan. We also wish to host a Pakistan-India Test in our country.

The mood among officials from both boards was positive in recent ICC meetings. The problem arises when politics gets in the way.”

According to details, Pakistan is set to host the Champions Trophy next year in February-March.

India is trying to move their matches to a neutral venue, but other teams have no issues traveling to Pakistan. England has also supported holding the entire event on Pakistani soil.

Richard Gould emphasized, “We want to ensure the Champions Trophy is held in Pakistan and we stand with PCB on this matter.”

He also expressed the desire to host a Test match between Pakistan and India in England.

In recent times, there have been discussions about hosting a Test match between the traditional rivals in England, with venues like Lord’s, The Oval, and Edgbaston showing interest.

Richard Gould added, “Everyone wants to host this match. I don’t think holding such a match in England is impossible.

The Pakistan Cricket Board, BCCI, and the politics between the two countries are ongoing issues.

Last week, we were in Sri Lanka for ICC meetings, where we saw the cricket officials from Pakistan and India in a pleasant mood. The problem arises when politics gets involved.”
