Rawalpindi: Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, has stated that if the government does not heed their demands and delays negotiations, then the sit-in will move to the doors of Parliament, and they will overthrow the fake government.
Addressing the protesters on the second day of the sit-in at Liaqat Bagh, Rawalpindi, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said that they are making history by participating in this sit-in. He said they have launched this historic sit-in to improve the condition of the people, and it could last for two months.
He warned that if the government does not take their demands seriously and fails to control the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) to provide relief to the public, then the sit-in will move forward to D-Chowk and the doors of Parliament, and they will overthrow the fake government.
Hafiz Naeem said that this sit-in will light the lamp of hope and end despair. He criticized the IPPs, calling them bloodsuckers, and said the sit-in is awakening the public against them. He added that people from all over Pakistan are looking to this sit-in with hope.6
He questioned how they could end the sit-in without providing relief to the public and curbing the IPPs and taxes. He accused the government of trying to block their way before the sit-in by closing roads and attempting to incite their workers against honest police officers, but their plan failed because even the police officers can no longer afford their electricity bills
He emphasized that they did not allow nefarious plans to succeed and prioritized peace.
To prevent tension, they divided one sit-in into three, and despite a sit-in at D-Chowk, the government failed by closing roads and arresting their workers.
He said they have prioritized the struggle and will not return without achieving their rights.
He warned the Prime Minister and ministers not to be under the illusion that forming committees would make them postpone the sit-in; negotiations and the sit-in will continue simultaneously. If there is any delay, they will advance and reach Parliament in Islamabad.
Hafiz Naeem announced that tomorrow the sit-in on Murree Road will turn into a historic public meeting, making it clear that they will not back down from their ten-point demands. He said they have embarked on a decisive struggle, and seeing the public’s enthusiasm, the government is being forced to give in.l
He urged everyone to participate in tomorrow’s historic meeting, where he will reveal whether the government is genuinely planning to provide relief or just putting on a show. If it is a show, they will move forward as the government tries to tire them out
The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami said that if the government tries to thwart them by engaging them, they have other plans ready, with sit-ins planned for Karachi, Lahore, Chitral, Quetta, Peshawar, and Gwadar.
He clarified that the government must provide the poor with their due rights on electricity rates, reduce taxes amidst inflation, and release missing persons according to the law. They are peaceful people and believe in nationalism, with Jamaat-e-Islami believing in only one nation.
He urged people to raise their voices against oppression and remain united, which is what they want. They aim to build a true Pakistan, uniting against those who received lands from the British.
He questioned Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif about how they plan to provide health and education to children when they collect taxes but provide nothing in return.
He called on workers and farmers to stand up, stating there is no Form 45 or 47 here, only Jamaat-e-Islami, which will oversee everything. They have just begun the journey and will not abandon it midway, nor will they withdraw from their demands.
He mentioned that from tomorrow, traders’ caravans will start arriving. PTI, PPP, and others have high hopes from this sit-in, so he urged workers not to fight anyone or get discouraged but to stay firm. The sit-in will continue until their demands are met.
