Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam condemns government crackdown on Jamaat-e-Islami protesters

Islamabad: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam has strongly condemned the government’s crackdown on Jamaat-e-Islami protesters.

In response to the government’s crackdown on Jamaat-e-Islami’s protests, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam spokesperson Aslam Ghori stated that people are resorting to suicide due to inflation, yet the government, which claims to uphold democracy, is raiding the homes of political activists and arresting them, which is very regrettable.

He added that placing obstacles everywhere will only escalate tensions further.

Issues should be resolved through negotiations, not force, and relief should be provided to the public by reducing electricity and gas bills.

Aslam Ghori emphasized that protesting against public issues is a constitutional and democratic right of every citizen.
