Final consultation on Pakistan’s Test squad for Bangladesh series next week

Lahore: Sources indicate that the Test squad will be finalized upon the return of red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie to Pakistan. Gillespie is currently in Darwin with Pakistan Shaheens.

Gillespie will return to Pakistan after the second four-day match against Bangladesh A.

A training camp for the Test series will be set up in the second week of August, with the first Test against Bangladesh starting in Rawalpindi on August 21.

Pakistan last played a Test match in January in Australia, and significant changes are expected in the squad.

Sources suggest that several players may not retain their places based on form and fitness, with Mohammad Haris and Sahibzada Farhan likely to be included in the Test squad.

According to sources, Fahim Ashraf, Wasim Junior, Saeem Ayub, and Nauman Ali may struggle to secure spots in the national squad, while discussions will be held about Imam-ul-Haq’s inclusion.

The decision regarding Amir Jamal and Hasan Ali’s inclusion will be made after assessing their fitness.
