KP CM agrees to Bannu Jirga’s demands; final approval pending Apex Committee meeting

Islamabad: The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has agreed to eleven demands made by the Bannu Jirga, but final approval will be given in a meeting of the Apex Committee.

According to News, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Apex Committee meeting is expected to be held tomorrow, chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

Sources indicate that the meeting will include the participation of Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Professor Ibrahim and other members.

The eleven demands presented by the Bannu Jirga will be discussed during the meeting.

Among the demands are opposition to the “Operation Azm-e-Istahkam” in Bannu and a call for the permanent elimination of both ‘good’ and ‘bad’ Taliban centers in the region.

Other demands include preventing disrespectful searches of madrasas, homes, and individuals under the guise of search operations, keeping the Friday Khan Road open for public convenience, taking notice of Taliban patrolling in the area, granting local administration full authority for action, enhancing local police capabilities and resources, giving police unimpeded action authority, and fully activating the CTD police to act against terrorists and criminal elements.

Additionally, the demands include refraining from unjustified raids on madrasas and homes to prevent public unrest and agitation, giving CTD local-level operational authority against ‘bad’ Taliban without restrictions, and providing medical treatment for injured police personnel at CMH.

Sources state that the Chief Minister has principled agreement with the Bannu Jirga’s demands, but final approval will be given in the Apex Committee meeting.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur will announce the final approval of the demands during his visit to Bannu on Friday.
