Maryam Aurangzeb urges action against criminals, warns of political status for terrorists

Lahore: Provincial Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has urged the judiciary to ensure that criminals are punished, warning that otherwise, all terrorist organizations could be granted political party status.

Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Maryam Aurangzeb said that during the 2014 protests, there were calls to drag the elected Prime Minister out of the Prime Minister’s House, and dirty clothes were hung on the walls of the Supreme Court.

She alleged that since 2014, these individuals have been systematically attacking state institutions, and the protest was staged when the country was progressing.

The Information Minister further stated that in 2018, RTS was rigged to install this person (Imran Khan) into power.

When he was ousted through a vote of no-confidence, a drama about a cipher was created.

She claimed that when the police went to Zaman Park with warrants, training for making petrol bombs was being conducted.

On March 18, they went to court with a militia, where people armed with Kalashnikovs were seen on vehicles, threatening severe consequences if they were arrested.

Maryam Aurangzeb added that they have not targeted any installations, desecrated statues of martyrs, or attacked police officers.

She emphasized that while they do not want to impose bans on any political party, the judiciary must punish criminals, or else all terrorist organizations will be granted political party status.

She also criticized Imran Khan for claiming he set up a trust with stolen money and questioned how PTI members abroad are tweeting while the Supreme Court is allegedly distributing political tickets to such a party.

She concluded that this is not a time for acknowledgment but for delivering justice.
