Saudi plane repaired and returns to service after Peshawar airport fire

A Saudi Arabian Airlines plane that caught fire during landing at Peshawar Airport has been repaired and became operational after a week and a half. The aircraft has now departed for Jeddah from Peshawar.

According to aviation sources, the Airbus A330 of Saudi Arabian Airlines arrived in Peshawar on the morning of July 11 as flight SV 792 from Riyadh, where the landing gear caught fire during landing.

Sources stated that Peshawar air traffic control took immediate action, halting the aircraft on the runway and declaring an emergency. All 276 passengers and 21 crew members were safely evacuated using emergency slides.

The Civil Aviation fire brigade and staff promptly extinguished the fire in the landing gear.

Following this incident, Peshawar Airport’s runway was closed for several hours, and the aircraft was grounded. Repairs took a week and a half and were completed by Tuesday morning, after which the aircraft was cleared for departure to Jeddah.
