Peshawar: In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district, a council of tribal elders has presented eleven demands to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, urging the permanent elimination of all forms of Taliban.
The meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s House under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, included participation from Bannu’s tribal elders and leaders. Chief Secretary, IG Police, Commissioner, RPO Bannu, and Deputy Commissioner were also present.
The elders presented their demands, which included opposition to the “Azm-e-Pakistan” operation in Bannu, and a call for the permanent eradication of both “good” and “bad” Taliban centers.
They also requested that search operations avoid inappropriate behavior towards schools, homes, and individuals, and that Juma Khan Road remain open for public convenience. They asked for action against Taliban patrols and full authority for local administration.
Additional demands included enhancing the capacity of local police, providing necessary resources, and granting them full authority for action without discrimination. They requested that the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) be fully operational and given complete authority to act against terrorists and criminals.
The elders emphasized that there should be no unwarranted raids on schools or homes to avoid public unrest and agitation. They urged that the CTD be allowed to take unrestricted action against “bad” Taliban.
The council also requested that injured police officers receive treatment at CMH and be transferred immediately.
In response, the Chief Minister assured that he would convene a meeting of the provincial apex committee within two days and confirmed that the demands would be presented at the committee meeting.
