Global firm hired to enhance investment and improve government efficiency

Islamabad: A global firm has been hired to increase investment in Pakistan and improve the efficiency of government institutions.

An important meeting on increasing investment in Pakistan and enhancing the efficiency of government institutions was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

During the meeting, the Public-Private Partnership Authority briefed that the consultancy firm Kearney has been engaged to enhance the capacity of federal ministries and improve investment conditions.

The briefing revealed that Kearney is an internationally renowned firm with operations worldwide, especially in the Middle East.

Addressing the participants, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that increasing investment is a top priority for the government.

He emphasized that the government is taking all possible measures to provide a business-friendly environment for traders and investors.

He directed that immediate and effective actions be taken for projects related to investment and improvement in government efficiency that have potential for quick results.

The Prime Minister also instructed the formation of a steering committee to monitor progress on enhancing the efficiency of federal ministries and increasing investment, which he will personally chair.

The briefing indicated that Kearney has already consulted with 15 federal government departments, identifying 97 priority projects.

Kearney will develop a roadmap for sustainable development in consultation with the government and assist in improving the regulatory framework of government institutions, attracting investors, and privatizing state-owned enterprises.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Mohammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of State for Finance Ali Pervez Malik, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Jahangir Khan, Prime Minister’s Coordinator Rana Ehsan Afzal, and relevant senior government officials.
