The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has hinted that all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja may soon see the end of his One Day International (ODI) career.
According to Indian media reports, new head coach Gautam Gambhir wants to give opportunities to younger players before the Champions Trophy 2025, which could lead to the conclusion of Jadeja’s ODI career.
Before the Champions Trophy 2025, the Indian team will play only 6 ODI matches, including three against Sri Lanka.
Selectors aim to give more opportunities to Akshar Patel and Washington Sundar.Additionally, Ravindra Jadeja has not been included in the squad for the series against Sri Lanka.
BCCI sources indicate that while Jadeja’s place in the ODI squad is uncertain, he could still be part of the squad for Test matches and the World Test Championship final.
Since the 2019 ODI World Cup, Jadeja has scored 644 runs at an average of 40 and a strike rate of 84, while taking 44 wickets at an average of 37 and an economy rate of 4.9.
Officials state that there is nothing wrong with Jadeja’s performance, but the management wants to explore other options to build the team for the future.
