Islamabad: The number of pending cases in the Supreme Court has reached a historic high.For the first time in the country’s history, pending cases have exceeded 59,000.
According to a Supreme Court report, as of July 15, the number of pending cases stood at 59,064. Between July 1 and July 15, 1,206 cases were filed, and 481 cases were disposed of.
The report notes that no decisions were made on human rights cases during these 15 days. Over 32,000 appeals against High Court decisions are awaiting consideration, and the number of pending criminal appeals has continuously increased, surpassing 10,000.
The Supreme Court report also reveals that the number of appeals from individuals in jails has reached 3,295.
