Million-dollar online fraud: Indian actress and husband arrested

Mumbai: Assam police have arrested renowned film star and choreographer Sumi Bora and her photographer husband Tarak Bora in connection with a ₹2,200 crore online fraud under the guise of stock trading.

According to Indian media, the police have stated that this is a major financial fraud affecting thousands of individuals.

The police revealed that the fraud was conducted without registration with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), making all transactions illegal.

Following the arrest of actress Sumi Bora and her husband, further arrests are expected.

In a video message after her arrest, Sumi Bora denied the allegations, claiming that she is not involved in the fraud and that a “media trial” is being conducted against her.

State police chief Gyanendra Pratap Singh stated on X (formerly Twitter) that “their game is now over.”
