Copenhagen: A new study from Denmark reveals that asthma in women is associated with increased risks of miscarriage and reproductive system issues.
Dr. Ann Vejh Hansen, a respiratory medicine specialist at Copenhagen University Hospital and the lead author of the study, stated that the research found higher rates of fetal loss among women with asthma and an increase in treatments for reproductive system issues in these women.
She further noted that the more severe the asthma, the greater the likelihood that women will require significant treatment for their reproductive system.
Dr. Ann Vejh Hansen’s team presented their research findings at the European Respiratory Society (ERS) annual meeting in Vienna.
The study reviewed data from approximately 770,000 women born between 1976 and 1999 and compared their early reproductive years from 1994 to 2017.
