Technology for early diagnosis of over thousand diseases

According to new research, a new artificial intelligence (AI) technology can diagnose over a thousand diseases well before symptoms appear.

The computer algorithm, named Milton, analyzes patients’ examination results, identifies patterns in the data, and predicts future illnesses with high confidence, even years in advance.

The pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, which developed the AI tool, states that this technology will accelerate the development of more effective and targeted treatments.

Additionally, it makes data easily accessible to other researchers, enabling them to develop diagnostic tests to prevent diseases and initiate early treatment.

For the research, AstraZeneca used data from 500,000 individuals obtained from the UK Biobank.

Milton reviewed data on 67 standard clinical biomarkers, which included detailed results of blood and urine tests, blood pressure, respiratory performance, along with factors such as weight, age, and gender.

Milton also analyzed data from 50,000 Biobank volunteers on 3,000 proteins found in blood plasma. These proteins play crucial roles in various bodily functions, including the immune and hormonal systems.
