Former Captain speaks out on Shaheen Afridi’s removal from captaincy

Moin Khan, a member of the 1992 World Cup team and former captain, has also spoken out about Shaheen Afridi being removed from the T20 captaincy and Babar Azam being reinstated.

Moin Khan, the former captain and wicketkeeper-batter, stated that it was “unfair” to remove Shaheen Afridi from the captaincy based on just one T20 series.

He believes Shaheen should have been given more time.

He mentioned that Shaheen Afridi has the capability to lead the team and was an excellent choice for captaincy in the shortest format.

While a different captain could have been chosen for ODIs, removing him based on a single series is unjust.

He questioned how one could expect good performance under such circumstances.

Moin Khan also commented that while it is possible to appoint a single captain for all three formats, the player must be able to play and perform in all formats.

He urged the board to give time to whichever player is appointed as captain.

Meanwhile, there are rumors that wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan may be given captaincy in white-ball formats, and Test team captain Shan Masood is also under consideration for leadership roles.

Shaheen faced criticism for the recent historic defeat against Bangladesh, as it was the first time the team lost a Test match and series at home to a visiting team.
