London: The UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) has arrested a 17-year-old boy from Walsall in connection with a cyber security incident affecting Transport for London (TfL).
The teenager was detained on September 1 on suspicion of violating the Computer Misuse Act in relation to the attack on TfL.
The young suspect was questioned by NCA officers following his arrest on September 5 and was subsequently released on bail.
This development comes as TfL reported that the cyber attack involved unauthorized access to some user data.
The incident identified on September 1 is under investigation by TfL in collaboration with the NCA. TfL stated that the attack involved access to some users’ names and contact details.
There is also a possibility that access was gained to some Oyster card refund data, which might include bank account details.
TfL’s Chief Technology Officer, Shashi Verma, emphasized that the security of systems and user data is crucial for the organization.
