Karachi: An important meeting regarding the Livestock and Fisheries Sector Program, supported by the World Bank, was held under the chairmanship of Syed Najmi Alam, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh on Livestock and Fisheries.
The meeting was attended by Livestock Program Coordinator Dr. Nazir Hussain Kalhoro and Fisheries Sector Program Coordinator Siraj Ahmed Solangi, who briefed the provincial advisor about the program.
Secretary Livestock and Fisheries Dr. Kazim Hussain Jatoi was also present during the briefing.
The provincial advisor was informed that so far, 32,000 families across Sindh have been provided with a package of livestock, which includes five goats (four female goats and one male goat), nine hens, and one rooster.
This program is ongoing this year as well, and we aim to benefit poor people in Tharparkar, Sujawal, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, and Dadu districts.
One of the benefits of this program is that it provides milk to undernourished children.
To care for these animals, we will also provide vaccines to protect them from various diseases.
In the fisheries sector, we are releasing millions of fish seeds into lakes, ponds, and canals across Sindh, enabling local fishermen to catch these fish and sustain their livelihoods.
Additionally, an offer has been made to provide land along Sindh’s coastal belt for the construction of fish ponds.
Under a public-private partnership, we will provide fish seeds, especially freshwater prawns, and technical assistance for their rearing.
On this occasion, Provincial Advisor Syed Najmi Alam stated that this program is part of our party’s manifesto, and under the vision of Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, we will continue to serve the poor people of Sindh.
