Court orders removal of terrorism charges in attack on woman wearing Arabic dress

Lahore: Significant progress has been made in the case involving the attack on a woman wearing Arabic attire in the Ichhra area of Lahore.

According to details, Judge Arshad Javed of the Anti-Terrorism Court presided over the case concerning the attack on the woman due to her Arabic dress.

The court ordered the removal of terrorism charges from the case and directed that it be transferred to the trial court session.

The police declared the accused—Altamash Saqleen, Nadeem, Muhammad Ali alias Chand Butt, Malik Khurram Shehzad, and Adil Sarwar—as guilty.

Conversely, the police declared Khalid Mahmood Khalid, Aleemuddin, and Allama Saqib Ali as innocent.

It is noteworthy that a case against the accused is registered at the Ichhra police station.

Earlier in February of this year, in the Ichhra area of Lahore, a woman who had come shopping with her husband was surrounded by an angry mob due to her attire.

The mob surrounded the woman on the suspicion of desecrating sacred words. The woman’s dress had the Arabic script word “Halwa” written on it.

Upon learning about the situation, ASP Gulberg Shehrbano Naqvi promptly arrived at the scene and, risking her own safety, rescued the woman from the angry crowd.
